Duplicate Name error and NETBIOS headache

I got a "duplicate name on network" error on boot for a PC
on my network. I deleted the computer from its container
in AD,and there is no other instance of the name in the
domain. However I still get the error at boot.I tried to
add the PC back to the container, but it says that the pre-
Windows name(which I'm leaving the same as the W2k name)
still exists in the domain. I did notice that before I
deleted the computer I couldn't map to any of my Windows
NT machines, and if I disabled NETBIOS over TCP/IP that
the error message didn't occur. Could someone be spoofing?
How could I find out, and how can I correct the situation?
I'm entry-level PC/Network Support in by myslef today at
work so any help would be greatly appreciated!
