Duplicate messages

We use Office XP professional with Novel GroupWise 5.x as
the e-mail server via POP3.

From time to time (at seemingly random intervals) a number
of messages already present in the inbox are re-downloaded
as new.

The one observation that we've made is that when an
office patch is installed the issues occurs with higher
frequency for some period of time (1-2 days) and for a
larger number of messages.

For obvious reasons we'd like to stop this from happening.

Note: Most of the clients have the 'leave a copy of
messages' on the server option selected, with the messages
being deleted only after the user permanantly deletes the
messsages.

Try applying the Office XP SP-3 service pack when it comes out (I think it's
slated to ship this month). There are some fixes in it that may correct
your problem. If not, post back here and we'll look into this further.

I have this same problem using POP3 to download messages. I have the setting "Leave on Server" also set...SP3 for Office XP is not out yet. I can't seem to find a pattern...it just downloads random messages multiple times whenever I sync up with the server. Please help..my e-mail address is (e-mail address removed)

Is there anything we can do? Thank

I posted a similar message a little while ago -- Subject: POP3 Synchronization Issues.

I got no responses. I have the same issue and I don't have Groupwise. I use a web-based internet hosting company that provides me POP3 e-mail. Every now and then it re-downloads duplicate e-mails -- a real pain.
