duplicate entry message

when i use command button to close a Form in data entry mode, it does not
display message in case of any duplicate entry. However, if I close the same
Form with cross button at the right top of thr form, it display message of
duplicate entry. I want to display the same message with commad button

Yes, this is a very old bug that affects all versions of Access. As you
found, Access silently discards your record, with no notification at all, if
the record cannot be saved when you use the Close action/method.

The workaround is to explicitly save the record before you close. Details in
