Duplicate "documents and settings" folders after re-install

I have reinstalled XP home on a 4 month old Vigle PC with Intel Dq965Gf
motherboard with 2.6G dual core processor and 4Gb RAM. Installation appeared
to go smoothly. I set two account names, and named the computer as requested
during the setup. The machine was working OK before reinstall, I just decided
to reisntall because I am splitting my files and applications between two
machines (one connected, the other clean) and thought it would sensible to
start fresh with both machines. All software legal on both machines.

I installed the INF drivers first as recommended, then I installed the
video, audio, and wacom intuous3 tablet drivers. When I attempted to install
the wacom tablet utilities I received a message that the deployer/undeployer
had encountered a problem and installation had been unsuccessful. The tablet
is working, but when I tried to check the program folders through My Computer
it took about 2 minutes for the searchlight to finish its job and reveal the
c drive and user folders. When I opened the documents and settings folder I
found 7 folders - listed below:
All users
All users.windows.0
Name1
Name1.viglengenie
Name1-1-vig (wiggle not dash)
Name2
Name2.viglengenie

there are also two windows folders: windows and windows.0

It looks like the favorites, cookies, desktop, start menu and user documents
seem to be duplicated in each of the account folders. The graphics and audio
files that were originally on the disc are also still present.

Each time I try to open the My Computer folder it takes about two minutes to
search for the contents. Once open, accessing other folders is instantaneous.

I have restarted the computer, and on startup I am now asked to select the
operating system I want to use. Windows XP Home Edition is listed twice.

I am really puzzled, as I have re-installed XP home on 3 different PCs over
the past 5 years and never encountered this before.

It looks like I have two OS running side by side. What should I do to fix
this?

thanks

Al
