DungeonSiege and request to insert CD to play PROBLEM

I run XP Professional on a Sony VIAO laptop. I was able
to run Dungeon Siege for several weeks with no problem.
Now I get a request to load CD One and after clicking OK
I see the hourglass for 30 sec and then nothing.
Periodically it will play after I: disable virus/internet
securty; change video hareware; download
updatesecdrv.exe;cuss and shout real loud; or stand on my
head and recite the Bible backwards. I.E. I've been thru
various "solutions" including Microsoft Support for a
Marathon Phone session. Is There Anyone out there who
really knows what I'm experiencing and how to Really Fix
it once and for all? I'm tired of standing on my head and
doing bizzare things [excluding the Bible as above]. Many

Bob, Dungeon Siege does require the CD to play. I would suggest you see the
information here http://www.dungeonsiege.com/known_ds100.shtml for the
SafeDisk patch from Macrovision. And while on the Dungeon Siege site, make
sure you're updated to the 1.11 version.
