Dungeon Siege ( Legends of Aranna)

I was hoping that someone could guide me in the right
direction. I just purchased Legends of Aranna.....and
can't seem to get it to run? I install...says the install
is completed.....it allows me to build my
character....prepares the world...then I get
** Exception Setected! Gathering exception Data Note:
this may take a moment or 2 to complete** it then tells me
its done and my screen goes blank..show me a error message
to send to microsoft.

This expansion pack comes with the full version of Dungeon
Siege ....which installs both...I tried to play it and it
seems to work fine, no problems getting it to run....just
when I try and play the expansion pack * Legends of Aranna
* this is when I start running into problems!
I'm so new to all this....help?

Hi Stormwhisper,

You might have a bad installation there. Let's try some steps...

Before beginning, uninstall the expansion via Control Panel's
Add or Remove programs section.

1. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php

You can lookup what a program does before you disable it here:

2. Run a virus scan at: http://housecall.antivirus.com Afterwards
Download & Run Spybot from: http://security.kolla.de to find any
Trojans, Adware, or Spyware which could clog up your system.

3. Click My Computer / Rightclick the Drive & Choose Properties
/ Run the "Disk Cleanup..." / Next Click the "Tools" Tab and run
the "Error-Checking" and "Defragmentation" utilities.

At this point, reboot your computer and install/play the expansion again.

4. Go to the Windows Update site for everything under Critical and
Recommended: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

5. Update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, &Video Drivers:

If you have applied any DS mods from the community sites, some of them dont work with Aranna. I had a similiar problem to yours, so I went into my Program Files/DungeonSiege/Resources folder and renamed all mod files ( the ones that didnt come from the installation disk ).

For example, I had a user mod called Apocspack_v1.1.dsres. I changed the name Apocspack_v1.1.dsres.mod so DS wouldnt recognize and load it. My problem vanished.
