Running WIN XP sp1 and suddenly find that dial-up
connection shows a false password. In IE6 Tools/Internet
options/connections/settings, password when changed to
correct value, reverts immediately to false. Means that I
have to fill in password in DUC window each time I want
to reach my ISP. Suggestions? Many thanks!

Jeff,

from
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm#Access_methods,_access_rights_or_passwords_not_properly_set

Use Control Panel, User Accounts, click on your own account,
select "Manage my network passwords". Check whether the problem
computer shows up in the list. If it does, click on it and
select Remove.

Does this solve your problem?

XP always displays 16 asterisks for a dial-up Internet password,
regardless of the password's actual length. If that's what you're
seeing, try connecting. It should work.
