I have an entry in the registry

HK_Local_Machine\Software\MS\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

%systemroot%\system32\dumprek 0 -k

Could you tell me what this is about, please?

Thank you

qimi

If you really mean "dumprep" then
Dumprep.exe is the Windows Error Reporting Dump Reporting Tool
"%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k" is the entry that appears in my
Registry.

You can disable or remove it if it bothers you. It is not essential.

If you mean dumprep, it's the background process that watches for crashing
programs and then offers to send the info to Microsoft for analysis.

I haven't seen a dumprek, check the spelling - it's possible it's a
malicious program attempting to masquerade as the MS legitimate program.

Sorry, it is dumprep (not dumprek)

But I did not have it before and it is not only in the registry startup, but
also, logically, in MSconfig startup tab.

Why should it suddenly appear?

A Windows update probably enabled it.
