Due to Viruses, the Internet Will Be Shut Down

Internet Service Provider. You should receive your email copy within
the next few days.

From (name of your) ISP

Dear (your email address)

Due to the recent high volume of online viruses, the internet will be
shut down until further notice. This is the only way to stop the
spread of computer viruses. This should only be a short delay, and
the full internet should be reactivated with one to two years, once we
are able to rid all worldwide computers of viruses. However, due to
popular demand, Ebay will still be available, allowing you to purchase
DVDs, VHS movies, and other items to fill your spare time that you
would normally spend on the internet. However, when you are the
winning bidder on Ebay, you will not be able to email the bidder, and
will have to resort to traditional mail to contact the seller or
buyer. Ebay will be the ONLY website which you will be able to
access, and all other internet services will be disabled, including
email, newsgroups, instant messenger services and much more.

This internet shutdown will be activated at midnight at the beginning
of the day of April 1, 2004. Please be reassurred that all Internet
Service Providers are working together in this matter, and you will
receive full credit for any and all monies that you have paid for your
internet service, and this credit will be applied as soon as the
internet is reactivated in the future. However, because this problem
has occurred as no fault of our own, we are unable to refund any money
for service not received. This is the risk that any and all internet
users assume when subscribing to a service which has a history of
unpredictability, and functions in the world as a new technology not
yet proven to be reliable. We will however strive to resume service
as quickly as we possibly can. Thank you for understanding, and
remember, we are here to assist you if you encounter any serious
problems due to this shutdown.

Sincerely,

(name of your ISP administrator)

I can guarantee that at least 7 out of every 10 employees at our sister
corporation would have opened the attachment within the first 3 seconds. The
other 3 would have taken 5 seconds. Unfortunately, all our of operations are
on the same server, so when that operations gets infected, so do the rest of
us. At least 90% of all the junk that gets spread through the system comes
from that operation. Seems no matter how many times these people are warned
they continually click on the dang things. During the last rash of Swens,
the same person, after having been repeatedly warned, clicked on an
attachment 5 times in one day!! Our IT finally had to take their computer
off the server to keep them from reinfecting the entire corporation until
they were able to get the server taken care of.

I thought you all were joking......until I just got two from Rogers this
minute......one with the virus attachment (Message.pif).

The other one says it has NO attachment and purports to be a bounced
email.....I haven't downloaded it into OE to see if it really does have an
attachment. They are both sitting in Mailwasher........

OK, checked the headers and it does have an attachment......TextDocument.pif

Sheesh......what in hell is this world coming to??? How many thousands of
people will believe these and open them. 8-((( Rhetorical question,

Oh? They use the old 2x4 math method? That should work nicely. California
has funny rules. No maiming. Sorta takes all the fun out of the edcation
process. said:

??? Did I do either these? I was not aware I posted from the top, and, I

I've had two supposedly from my ISP within the last 2 hours. I just deleted
'em. Cox does not notify their customers about their accounts or service
using e-mails. The use the Hells Angels Connection/Collection Agony. It's
probably easier to try and figure odds on how many *won't.* <sigh>

Hi Heather,

Smells like bagle.k worm

Hi J........I phoned my ISP and caught the initial......they said it is a
"J" variant of Bagle......good call!! They have been going nuts since early
this morning with it. So far, it purports to be from 5 different kosher
sounding departments at Rogers.......postmaster, administrator, etc.

Just got another yet another download from EZ Trust tonight (10 or so this
week).....I won't print what I think of these sob's who are writing these
viruses!!!
