I have a dual port ethernet nic adapter and want to hookup two computer
will this work

No. You can go directly from NIC to NIC if there are only two computers to
be networked together, and you have to use a crossover cable. For a
three-computer network such as you want, each computer has to connect to a
hub, switch, or router.
