I've got an IBM Thinkpad with Windows 2000 pro. While trying to do a
complete system restore I ended up with 2 separate installations of Win 2K.
One installation is working and I've already installed all the software I
need on it. The other installation is still in progress. So when I boot the
machine I get a choice of OS. One choice is Windows 2000 Professional and
the other is Install/Upgrade Windows. I've got no partition on my hard drive
that is apparent. Is there any way to tell the Bios or Windows that I don't
want to finish the other install without somehow messing with my working OS.

1. Boot into Win2000
2. Determine the folder where your other installation resides.
3. Rename it to something else.
4. Use notepad.exe to edit the hidden file c:\boot.ini
5. Remove the unwanted OS line.
6. Save & close the file.
7. Wait a week.
8. If all is well, delete the folder you renamed in Step 3.
