Dual OS: ME and XP Pro. One drive is making a noise. I get a DOS prompt requesting a boot disk in A: (Since I installed XP, I haven't been able to access the floppy drive; just from the ME part.) How do I make a boot disk? And should it be ME or XP? I am quite worried about my poor drive, but since I have 3 hard drives, I don't even know which of 3 has the problem! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Karen

When do you get the request for the boot disk? Generally, boot disk
requests mean that the boot drive (or boot partition on the boot drive)
require attention, for example prompt replacement.

Do you know which drive is the boot drive?

Thanks for the quick response, Patrick. It is a Dell PC, and the blue Dell screen comes up first, then the boot disk prompt. I think the boot drive is the partition on C that has ME, since that is the original OS. Is that right? But how do I get to another drive/partition? E is my XP Pro drive, which is a partition on physical drive C. My other drives are just for video files (I am an editor). Thanks again, Karen
