Dual Monitor: control where a "child" window opens?

Is it possible to control where a "child" (pop-up) window opens on a dual
monitor setup?

For example, I use SyncToy (A Microsoft Powertoy program) and I need to keep
it on my right (secondary) monitor. When I run this program, the results
window opens on the primary monitor in front of what I'm doing there. I
know it is possible to get this child window to open on the other monitor,
because it did one session. I just don't know what I did to cause that.

I've tried dragging the results window to the secondary monitor and closing
it there. I always close the program itself in the right monitor when I'm
done. I've tried shift-click, alt-click, and ctrl-click to close the
program. The next time I open the program it comes up in the left monitor
again.

I searched the Knowledge Base and Googled these newsgroups without success.

Dell 8400
Windows XP SP-2
Radeon X800 SE display adapter
Samsung SyncMaster 214T primary monitor
Dell 1704FPT secondary monitor

Thanks.

Is it not an option of your ATI dual monitor drivers software?, it certainly
used to be (last ATI I had)

I had looked through there but didn't see anything that looked like it would
apply. What would it be under?

Well I'm no longer using ATI, as I recollect there should be an option to
select which display an app opens on

It may be part of the ATI Hydravision software, which is a separate
install from the drivers. This is my memory of older drivers from a
couple of years ago, and so may have changed since (I'm not sure if
Hydravision still exists in the current ATI software).

I don't seem to have that option or software. Is there a program or utility
somewhere that could be used?

Does ATI come with the monitor or the display adapter? I'm about to
replace both but I'd like to keep the ATI software.

The original poster is using a Radeon X800 SE display adapter and a
Samsung SyncMaster 214T monitor. I'm using a VisionTek Xtasy 9200SE
display adapter and an LG LCD monitor. ATI came with the display adapter
and not the monitor?

I found out how to get the program to run in the right monitor - move the
taskbar over there before starting it.

This trick doesn't work with all programs, but maybe it'll work for yours
too.
