Dual CPU XP Install - Error 00000079

I have a dual CPU system running windows 2000. My Western
Digital 9GB SCSI drive crashed, so I purchased an 18GB WD
drive. I purchased a Windows XP Home cd, but when I try
to boot from the cd I get a 0x00000079 error. I looked it
up and it looks like when it is trying to boot from the
cd, the HAL is not set up for dual booting. I have 2 IDE
drives installed, but niether of them can currently self
boot. Suggestions on how to get windows installed on this
system?

Do you purchase everything without doing any research whatsoever?! Had you
bothered to do the tiniest modicum of research you wouldn't have wasted your
money. Home does not support dual processors. It won't even install (AFAIK)
on a dual-processor system! You can't take it back now - you've opened it
and no store takes back opened software, and especially not when it's
blatantly the customer's fault!
