Dual core & xp home?

Hi, I was looking at buying a AMD X2 4800+... but i wasent sure if XP home
would recognize both cores. I have tried to research this but only found that
XP Pro supported 2 cpu's with 2 core's a piece, but nothing on if XP Home
would use both cores.

Thanks in advance, AJ

Both XP Home and XP Pro support dual-core processors.
XP Pro supports two physical processors, XP Home supports one.
A dual-core processor is only one physical processor.

In other words:

If you have one physical processor that is dual-core, Windows XP Home Edition
will recognize it as two separate processors and give you the benefit of both cores.

Yes, it will. And if you put in a quad-core, that would be used too.

XP Home supports one physical processor, regardless of the number of cores
it has. XP Pro supports two, again regardless of the core count.
