Dual Core - 2 CPUs?

I was out in device manager on my XP SP3 machine. looking at my
computer, and clicked on processor, it showed up as having 2, and
they were same. Is that because of it being dual core?
Thanks

Yes. Each core shows as a CPU. If you have an Intel processor which
supports hyperthreading then each CPU will show as two. Thus my i7
(quad-core) machines show up as eight CPUs under task manager.

Or it could be due to hyperthreading. You really haven't a clue what
hardware comprises your computer? If it is some mystery computer, you
can get software to query the hardware to tell you what it is.
Piriform's Speccy, Open Hardware Monitor, and CPU-Z will tell you what
CPU you have.
