dual boot requires 2 hard drives on the same computer. it is not recommended
to have 2 operarting systems on one harddrive. when you re-install windows
on a secondary harddrive, windows will create a dual boot menu, (boot.ini).
you can see the boot ini file via the msconfig (start>run>msconfig) or you
can search for it and open it up with your notepad....

You do not need 2 HD to have two Operating Systems.. You just need 2
partitions.

Absolute nonsense.

it is not recommended
to have 2 operarting systems on one harddrive.

"Not recommended" by whom, precisely? As long as each operating system
is installed to it's own separate partition, there is absolutely no
problem with having multiple operating systems on a single hard drive.

when you re-install windows
on a secondary harddrive, windows will create a dual boot menu, (boot.ini).
you can see the boot ini file via the msconfig (start>run>msconfig) or you
can search for it and open it up with your notepad....

And just where did the OP say that she was interested in using only
Microsoft operating systems, much less any version of Windows?

You mean 2 partitions - which can be on the same or
different hard drives.
it is not recommended to have 2 operarting systems on one harddrive.

I think you're mis-remembering Microsoft's recommendation,
which is to not install 2 OSes in the same partition - which can
be done if the names of their folders are different.

recommended by people who know the value of backups......................
when the drive crashes, the value of having 2 operating systems wil be for
not......
