Dual boot Vista and Ubuntu

What's the best way to dual boot Vista and Ubuntu?
Which bootloader?
Vista, GRUB, BootMagic etc.?

Install Vista first then Ubuntu, Grub should handle it then. It may freak
out the Windows bootloader and give error 0xc0000001 but booting from the
Windows install DVD, hit the link for System Restore on the install welcome
page should restore startup. This may not happen if you install Linux on a
different physical drive but I haven't tried this yet so just being
optimistic. I haven't tried BootMagic or other 3rd party with Vista and am
a little nervous about trying so that can be your experiment.

The above worked for me also after much wailing, teeth gnashing and
chair chucking about the workshop. Vista & SuSE 10.1 happily
co-existing. The Vista DVD restore bit is crucial otherwise there is
much wailing, teeth gnashing and chair chucking.

Well Jesus said there'd be much wailing and gnashing. Guess he was right.
I should get my ass to church.

The rule has always been Windows does not recognize other OSes except
for older versions of Windows. So you should load Vista first, then let
your bootloader of choice in linux (LILO, GRUB, etc.) handle the
choice booting to both. Best of luck.

It's very easy to restore the bootloader if you install any version of
windows that overwrites the boot loader, just boot on your Linux CD and tell
it to repair the installation and select boot loader from the options.
