Dual boot issue

XP and 2000. Computer currently has 2000. Would like to replace with
larger drive -- keep the current 2000 and associated programs and set up
a second partition with XP. See where a dual boot with above is
possible but do not know if can simply use cloning software to transfer
current 2000 to one partition and setup XP on other? Also what is
recommended to use as boot manager? Thanks.

Hi Dan,

Most hard drives come with software to copy an existing drive, or can be
downloaded from the manufacturers website. If it uses the complete
drive, you may need 3rd party utilities to resize the partition and
create a new one. I use Partition Magic, which comes with a boot
manager called Boot Magic.

As Terry says, many disk manufacturer have a cloning tool on their web site.
You could even use xcopy.exe if you are familiar with the boot process and
have another machine that you could use for the cloning process. Post again
if you need more details.

I use XOSL as a boot manager. It's free and it lets you separate the two OSs
completely.

Keep the same drive letter for 2000 when you clone it, install XP to another
partition/drive, XP has a built in boot manager that works fine.
