DSUM Limitations

I am having a hard time finding a way to multiply DSUM formula
efficiently.
I have a dsum formula that looks for an description and region in the
criteria. That's fine, but I need to substitute another region in th
next cell.
For example:
Desc Region
Revenue South
North
Eas

you may use SUMIF or SUMPRODUCT instead. If you may post some
information about your data range and your lokkup values it's quite
easy to create such a formula.

I could use SUMIF and VLOOKUP to achieve the desired results but I am
just curious about this DSUM limitation. It seems to me that LOTUS
(scary enough!) performs this formula better.
