Well If it has a USB port for a USB dsl modem or a network port for a Modem
that has a network cable with it, then it's "setup"!!

Hi,

Generally you will need either an available USB port or network adapter.
Your service provider will likely provide the dsl modem, and the type
determines which of the ports you will need to attach to it. In either case,
XP will usually recognize the connection and self-configure for you.

how do i know if my computer is setup for dsl

I'm not at all sure what you're asking here. Is the question whether the
computer is capable of running DSL?

If that's the question, the answer is almost certainly yes it is. Almost any
computer running Windows XP can use DSL. All you need are the following:

1. A DSL line (from your telephone company or ISP)

2. A DSL "modem" (usually from your telephone company or ISP, but they can
also be bought separately).

3. If your DSL modem is internal, all you need is a free slot to insert it.
If it's external, you need an Ethernet port (or sometimes a USB port) to
plug it into. Most recent computers come with an Ethernet port, but if yours
doesn't, you can buy an inexpensive Ethernet card ($10 or so).
