DSL-to-modem-- no work

A friend can't get on-line to solve this problem; my 98 is
still chugging away;so i'm trying to help;a used HP w/XP
is what he got; SP1; former owner is Administrator; can't
set up 'net conn-wiz for modem; greyed-out options for
other-than-DSL;any help-no matter if speculative-is
welcome;I love all of you for being willing to help people
you don't even know.You're exceptional people.For the
record,...he's a very deserving person. Thanks all.
 
Try this go into the control panel/network
connections/new network connection/ then use the network
connection wizard to set a new connection
