DSL on, but Local Area Connection says limited or no connectivity.

Why is it that my DSL connection appears to be intact and I can access the
internet but my Local Area Connection indicates that there is limited or no
connectivity? I guess that since I am connected and typing this message now
there really is no issue, but it seems to be a bit of a contradiction and I
am concerned that there may be something wrong that might cause me problems
later. Any thoughts? Should I not even worry about this? Cheers.

You may want to disable the message. This troubleshooting may help.

Is there a Broadband or PPPoE connection in the Network Connections
folder? If so, your DSL modem uses that, not the Local Area
Connection, to communicate with your computer. In that case, the
Local Area Connection doesn't get an IP address, which causes the
extraneous "limited or no connectivity" message. The solution is to
assign a static private IP address, such as 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1,
to the Local Area Connection.
