DSL internet with vpn - DNS lost - Win xp

Hello,

I have a real problem
I connect to the internet with a router (DSL).
When I connect the a server (outside on the internet) with a VPN
connection IE and Outlook do not work anymore. I tryed to set the
gateway and dns in the lan options but still it will not work. If I
try to reach a site using a IP it works fine. So the problem is that
IE and Outlook can not see the dns server. There are two woring dns
servers configured on the lan card.(?)
I have 3 computers in my network with te same problem

On the moment the vpn connection is stoped everything work fine again.

Also I want to make the vpn connection made as a service, so before a
user logs in the pc. Is that possible?

Please help.

Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Josh

1. assuming you can ping a public ip but not web site, try to use nslookup
to check the dns status.

2. VPN: you may have many options. use rasdial and ipsec if you have static
ip. quoted from http://www.ChicagoTech.net

How to establish VPN connection automatically
1. You can run rasdial.exe as a service by using instsrv.exe
2. Add rasdial.exe into startup.
