I just got a new MB/Processor and SATA hard drive and installed a fresh copy
of XP Pro SP2 to it.
My internet connection with my old computer responded instantly no matter
when I accessed it.
Now,when i leave the computer for any small amount of time and come back, the
email doesn't work the first time i check it, i have to do it twice. the web
doesn't respond on the first click of a web page either,I usually have to
hit refresh once or twice. I have earthlink DSL and a linksys router. My PC
stays on all the time as well as the internet connection. It's like the
connection goes to sleep or something after a while. I have all of my energy
saver settings like sleep,hd shutdown, etc disabled.

Any clue what could cause this?
thanks
Rob

Do you have the power management disabled on the network adapter also?
If not, look at the NIC's properties from Device Manager. On the Power
Management tab, disable allowing Windows to power down the NIC.
