DSL acting oddly

Hi all,

My DSL line has been acting rather strangely for the past couple weeks. It
can connect, but apparently only for 15 minutes or so at a time - at the end
of that period, I have to right-click on my connection in Network Properties
and ask it to Repair the connection to get it working again. I have to do
this EVERY 15 minutes.

I didn't have a problem with this until about a few weeks ago. My
connection was able to stay connected more or less infinitely unless i wanted
it off for some reason (like doing a virus scan). I'm connected to a network
that my family uses, we share DSL access. The router we used some time ago
apparently broke so we replaced it with a new one, but I am still having the
problem. My parents cannot connect to the internet through their computers
(they are notebooks) but my sister's connection works fine.

I am sick and tired of having to manually re-establish the connection every
15 minutes. I've noticed my IP address has been changing dynamically since
the problem started. DSL IP addresses shouldn't change!! This has made it
difficult for me to maintain an FTP server on my machine for a friend of mine
who asked me to reserve some space on my machine to host some of her files
for download.

Can anyone help us resolve this problem?

Jared,

Check on the configuration for your new router. There should be something
like persistent connection or disconnect if no user activity.

Are your parents computers connected to the network? can they see the other
two computers?
