Dropping network share?

Hey all need some thoughts

We have a client that has a simple file sharing with xp home between 2
machines and running simply accounting 2006 pro
machine1 is the main machine and sharing the simply database file
machine2 is a second machine that is accessing the shared database.

what is happening is after awhile simply will stop responding and have to
kill it in task manager.

after manually browsing the network to share or rebooting the computer will
fix it for a while and then it happens again.

Any Ideas?

Two things to check:

1. Faulty power-saving option under the network card properties. (deselect
the option)

2. Automatic share-disconnect. Windows servers are designed to disconnenct
inactive shares after a set time. Sometimes this causes trouble with database
apps.

Have not thought of the power saving options on the card itself. I'll have to
look at those. Also would the information in that link work with windows xp
home as thats what they are running
