dropping frames

Timothy

I have a toshiba satellite laptop running xp pro with a
sony digital video camera. The camera runs at 30 frames
per second and it appears that the ieee 1394 card can
only capture 29.97 frames per second. Is there anything
I can do to keep the captured video from dropping frames
(I am waiting for a response from the card maker)? Also,
the captured video does not show in the preview screen
even though I have the box checked.

Can anyone help? Thank You.

I use a Toshiba Satellite laptop also....

Hard drive condition is most important - free space and defrag. Laptop hard
drives are typically slower than desktops so it's more important than usual.

Try the WinDV utility to capture (link on my Digital Camcorders > Intro
page) instead of capturing with MM2..

Hello,

I have several programs that capture video. They all report 29.97 fps.
Movie maker is one of the few that round it up to 30
