Drop-down Field

Karen

I created a very basic form in Word 2003 using tables. There is a section of
the form that has a drop-down form field. In order for the drop-down to work,
I have to click the “Protect Form†icon on the Forms toolbar. When I do that,
I cannot click in any of the table cells to enter any data. How do I get
around this? HELP!
Thanks, Karen

You need to insert a text form field in every cell where you might need to
enter data. You insert those from the Forms toolbar. (They have an icon that
says ab on it.)

Hi Karen,

If you insert Section breaks to separate the portions of your document that you want to remain editable from the uneditable portions
(which will include your dropdown formfield), then protect only the Sections intended to be uneditable, your users will be update
the formfields in the uneditable Sections and any content in the editable Sections.

Unless your dropdown formfield is in the table on a row where the user needs to enter other data, there's probably no reason for any
of the table to be protected and, hence, no need to use text formfields there.
