Drop down arrows not working - freezing - help

Hi - Recently the choice list arrows are not working...for example whenever I
click on the down arrow to view a previously viewed web site, or if I'm in
Work and try to do file save as and choose a file location, the PC freezes.
I can enter addresses in the address bar, but enter does not work either.
Any suggestions on a setting I can adjust would be appreciated!!!!!
