Drives gone crazy! Please help hard drive gurus!

I have 3 hard drives. 2 of them are the newer kind with the flat little
cables going independantly to the motherboard and 1 is the old kind
that goes on the ribbon cable in series with other drives. I am sharing
the same ribbon on the third one with a DVD ROM drive. Ive moved the
jumper settings all around on both of them but whenever I have the hard
drive connected to the ribbon the whole computer acts crazy. What is
the proper set up for havin these 3 drives and the DVD ROM as far as in
series on the ribbon cable and jumpers...or whatever else is important.
Also, since I had Windows installed on an old drive my computer is
seeing two Windows installations and asks which to choose every time.

THANKS A MILLION.

I assume that the ATA cable is 80 wire one. Than you could put jumpers on
both HD and DVD on cable selected. If you put HD on the end of the cable it
will be master and DVD will be slave.

You have to chouse how to boot: from the sata or ata HD (in bios). If you
have 2 windows install put on the first place that one that you wont to boot
from and reduce weiting tim from 30 second to for example 5 and computer
will boot always on the first windows.
