Hi Gerry,

I wanted to say that I had read one of your threads where you were helping
someone else with a similar problem with stop and error messages. And you had
mentioned about checking a website for scanning for bad drivers. Well, I took
the advice and scanned my drivers. I found that I had 41% of drivers that
failed or bad.
That may be a good reason for alot of my error troubles. What are your
thoughts?

I also wonder, should I download my bad drivers as they suggest, or do you
suggest a better site to download?

Sincerely, Tim

I do not know what web site you are referring to. However, it sounds
like one I would not use.

You never replied to my last post!

I think you have said this an HP Notebook. Please provide the model
and advise when it was purchased new.

You have not provided any details regarding the BSOD Stop Error. To
move forward I need a copy of that Report. Is Automatic Restart still
turned off.?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the
My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

Copying Event Viewer reports. You were sucessful but next time please
provide only one copy of the Report. You posted four identical copies
of the same report i.e. they all had a the the same date / time stamp.

Hope this helps.

On searching for vetefile.sys, I found lots people getting BSODs from this
file. It is identified as "Real Time Protection Driver". This file is
evidently used by several AV products. Which AV product are you using?
Disabling the firewalls was a bad idea if for no other reason than that
there is no reason to suspect a firewall problem. What you did was open
your computer up to more invasions.

As another has asked what is your anti-virus and in particular what
version?

Hi Gerry,

To answer your question, I have (CA Internet Security Suite 2007) vs.3

Consists of (Anti-Virus/Anti-Syware/Anti-Spam/Personal Firewall/Parental
Controls).

Website - ca.com/consumer/support

Hope this helps, Thanks again! Tim

Uninstall and reinstall and see if the Stop Error message goes away.

My reaction is that it could be a bug but there is no indication that
one exists in the Knowledge Base. However, there are a number of
similar errors being reported in Google! Try emailing CA for advice,
providing a copy of the Stop Error Report.

It would be helpful to publicise what they say in their response as
others are no doubt looking for a solution.
