Driver_Power_State_Failure

I installed Windows2000 about a week ago and it has been running fine. This
morning I installed my Conexant USB modem and driver and now when I shut
down I get the message:

Driver_Power_State_Failure
Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk

If I use the Unplug or Eject Hardware feature on the taskbar to safely
remove it, I don't get the error message. Since the modem was the last
thing I installed I thought it might be the problem and it was.

Normally I use Satellite to connect to the Net but I keep a dialup modem in
case I want to do video/voice chat. Dialup works better than Satellite for
that.

Even though I can unplug before shutting down or restarting, I would like to
find a fix for this if there is one because I keep forgetting to unplug the
modem. I used this modem on XP before I reformatted and installed 2000 and
it didn't cause any problems. Yes, it is compatible with 2000 and has
drivers for it.

Thanks!

Thanks Dave. I read the article and decided to remove and reinstall the
driver. This morning I downloaded PalTalk and didn't like it so I removed
it. I think I installed the modem driver last night (instead of this
morning) and was able to shut down just fine. After I uninstalled PalTalk
and rebooted is when I got the error message. I'm wondering if it corrupted
the modem driver in some way? After I reinstalled the modem driver, I
rebooted and didn't get the error message so hopefully it is working now.
If I can figure out what driver it is, I will try to find an update for it.

If it does give me more trouble I'll just uninstall it on this computer and
install it on my laptop with XP. I know it will work in there.

The parameters following the stop error may help you figure out the driver
name.
