DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Help needed please,

I have SBS2000 installed with the MS-6309 lite motherboard, 1 gig of RAM,
Adaptec 1200A IDE RAID Card and the Initio INI-A10XU2W SCSI CARD,

Erery time the HDD comes under heavy load I get the following error on a
Blue Screen

STOP: 0x000000D1 (etc)

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in ata1200a.sys

now I gather this is some problem about the ata1200a.sys file which is the
driver fot the IDE Raid controller, the card has been in the server for 3-4
months now wthout a problem, except until the monday when I started getting
the above error, initially I thought it might have developed a hardware
conflict with the SCSI card as it would crash as the backup starts, how ever
a full virus scan or even trying to reinstall SP4 has caused this screen to
pop up. The only updates made to the server on Monday when this started
happening was the following:

Installed RIS (Remote Installation Services) and used it to install W2K
remotly over LAN all went fine
Uninstalled RIS no longer need
Updated McAffe Groupshield to latest DATS.

Thats about it. The server is running all the latest service packs, mobo
bios is fully up to date along with the RAID drivers.

Can anyone suggest where to look now please.

Many Thanks

David

I'm experiencing the exact problem. Our server was running fine for
years when this started happening. Adaptec sent me a new ATA Rai
card, and I've formatted and reinstalled the entire system fro
scratch.

Running the latest BIOS on the system and latest firmware on the newl
replaced drive.
Initially the RAID (mirror) was created by hooking up two hard drive
to a single channel.

I've since placed each hard drive on its own channel and continue t
have the array in Raid 1.
Changed the PCI slots and disabled sound card (too free up IRQs)

Running Win2k Server with SP4 and every patch.

Same problem here; RAID controller been running happily for a year o
two, got BSOD this morning when backup started.

(SBS2000, fully patched, also McAfee VirusScan/GroupShield)

I'll just stick my head in the sand and hope it goes away

Next time, write down all of those numbers that showed up on the BSOD...
you can look them up to see what happened. (Or post them here)
