Driver loaded. CD ROM not found.

I formatted my HD and I recovered everything. However, after a couple of CD's
I used to install some programs, my CD-DVD ROM drive doesn't work. It is set
to master and everything, and there is power going to it as I can open the
tray. In my computer there is no "D:\" option, and it won't load any cd's. I
checked "device manager" and I have this status for the drive:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Please help. Thank you.

I am having the exact same problem. I have tried several cd/dvd drives and
different configurations with no luck, I feel helpless and sad.

Does it show up in the BIOS? Did you open the tower case and check the
ribbon cable to the back of the drive.
