There is a driver for this printer on the XP distribution CD. Do not use the
disk that came with the printer. The printer attached by way of a parallel
printer cable. Use only a high quality, IEEE certified cable.
Attach the printer to the computer while both are powered off. Then, switch
both on and start Windows XP in the usual way. Have your CD ready. XP should
detect the printer and prompt you for the CD.
If it does not, run the add printer wizard.

Plan B. You can download the printer drive for Windows 2000 from the HP web
site and use that.
