drive size wrong in explorer

Hello gang,

I have a small problem that I'm hoping has an easy fix.
I have two fixed drives in my machine. One is a Maxtor 90845D4, 1.99 GB.
(C It contains my operating system win2000 pro.
The other drive which contains most of my programs and files is a
WDCAC32500H, 8.4 GB. (D
My problem is the last time I formatted drive (C for a fresh install of
windows I used a win95 setup disk to format. I believe that is why drive
(D is recognized only as a 1.99 GB drive, and not a 8.4 GB drive.
Make sense?
Can I fix this problem without major changes?
All is working great other than the fact that I'm running out of room on
drive (D

Note that this is probably a FAT16 partition limitation. You may have to go
to FAT32 to get a single partition with all the space included.

1. Back up your data.....

2. Do you have room to move the contents from drive D to drive C
temporarily? If so, you could do this and repartition the entire D drive as
one large partition. Go ahead and format it while there and it should now
contain the entire space. Just be very careful and copy everything back to
the D drive precisely as it was before. That is providing you don't have to
reboot during the process. If you use the Disk Manager in the Computer
Management utility, it should work smooth as a button.

3. Or, go directly to Administrative Tools/Computer Management/ Disk Manager
and put a partition in the empty drive space left on Drive D. This will give
a Drive E that should use the remainder of the space once you format it.

If any of that seems a bit much of a task for you, you may want to consider
getting assistance.

I don't have the room to copy files to the other drive. I just opened Disk
Managemment, and drive (D shows to be FAT32, and healthy. It also shows
an "unallocated" 5.87 GB, I am foratting that space right now.
Bingo, I just gained a 5.85 GB drive.
Quick question, can I now install win2000 on that new space (G, and then
format (C? Will it boot to (G or maybe I should say will it find the
operating system on (G, or will I have to set that up?
