hi all, can you help please?

i recently tried to burn a movie and was unsuccesful, so i went to test the
drive and it was not on my system (not in my comp or device manager) so i
reset my comp and after reset it was there again, so, i burned the movie
successfuly, but, i just put a disc in and it is not showing again! why does
the comp keep denying the drive is there until i reset. all drivers upto date
as far as i know.
the drive is a BTC DVDRW IDE 16x.

dell dimension 4550
xp home sp2

any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

lee.

Try switching the drive to another slot on youre IDE cables (adjust the
jumper
pins for the other unit if it exists).....
