Drive Mapping

My hard drive has 100 GB of bad sectors so I am in the process of backing it
up. The HD has two partitions and the first (sectors 63...whatever) is the
"system restore" partition which is NOT corrupt but I would like to salvage.

My question is this: somehow the primary partition is set as F: and the
secondary as C:. How can I replicate this behavior on my new hard drive?

Thanks in advance.

Is that to say that this is not possible? Is this set in the MBR? To change
it would I need a special partitioning tool?

Thanks
