My grandson got on our computer yesterday and I noticed
today that when I open windows explorer the drive letters
are no longer displayed. For example 3 1/2 Floppy had an
(A:) displayed and c drive was displayed as: pet (C:) ,
now it is displayed as: pet. How do I turn on the letter
display?

Thanks in advance.

This worked for me (thanks to Kelly) Change to Details view, then, while
holding down shift, switch back to Thumbnail View

Great. Thanks Stuart and Kelly.

Either and perhaps safer, use
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
and go back to a restore point made before grandson got at the machine -
this will unwind anything else, too, that you may not have discovered
and is one of the main uses of System Restore

Or for the specific point, Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from
(if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its My Computer - Drive letters page has a selector for this behaviour
