Drive letter assignment and Drive Image 7

I have two physical hard drives, drive 1 has two partitions. When I
first installed XP, I think the drive letter assignment was as follows:

drive 1/ partition 1 C:(OS)
drive 1/ partition 2 E:
drive 2 D:
optical drive F:

I reassigned D: as E:, and E: as D: because it was easier to visualize
the two partitions with consecutive drive letters.

XP is installed to C:, all programs etc, with the exception of a few,
are installed to D:, and all downloads go to E: where I also store
images of C: created with DriveImage6 and NortonGhost.

This setup had given me few problems, until I installed DriveImage7 when
suddenly E: (drive 2) is reported in explorer as being missing or
corrupt and in the management console as being basic, healthy and empty
with nothing as the file system. The same behavior is seen in safe mode,
and installing DI7 to C: or D: (partition 1 or 2 of drive 1) makes no
difference.

System restore wouldn't rectify this, but fortunately I was able
backtrack using Ghost's floppy from where E: was still accessible.

Any comments please?

Thanks,

I you haven't already, you might want to ask Symantec Tech Support about
this.

One of the many pitfalls of partitioning drives using NT.
