Drive Image?

I'm having a problem navigating the Symantec pages so thought I'd post
my question here... probably have better luck here anyway.

I recently purchased Drive Image 7 because my Windows XP would not
work with an earlier version. I'm trying now to find Drive Image 7 for a
friend. I access Powerquest.com and it appears to have been consumed
by Symantec. I click the Drive Image 7 link and that takes me to
Symantec's Ghost. I found nothing to confirm that Ghost is replacing
Drive Image or that that particular version of Ghost is what XP requires.

Version of Drive Image prior to version 7 work just fine with Windows XP.
However they do boot to DOS {not MS-DOS} to do the image vice doing the
image in Windows XP.

The current versions of Ghost are Ghost version 9 and Ghost 2003. The retail
package of Ghost Version 9 includes both CDs.

Norton Ghost Version 9 is a Symantec repackaging of Drive Image 7 with some
additions. Ghost Version 9 requires Windows XP or Windows 2000 and creates
an image from within Windows. Note: some do not like this approach.

Norton Ghost 2003 is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 9.X/ME and other
operating systems. Ghost 2003 does reboot to DOS {not MS-DOS) to create the
image.

Symantec purchased PowerQuest apparently to acquire PowerQuest Drive Image 7
technology.

Ghost 9 is so close to PowerQuest V2i Protector Desktop that it doesn't
matter. V2i Protector Desktop is the big brother to Drive Image 7 ( it has
incremental imaging).
All are good products.

Could you not just copy your own CD and send it to your friend? He doesn't
need to register the product but at least he has access to your favorite
drive image software. Most software allows you to copy on two computers
provided you don't use them simultaneously. but then rules are made to be
broken so break them. Tell them John Doe authorised you to do so on
Microsoft Newsgroup. You could send me an ISO of your CD for my
collection!.

I use Ghost and it works fine for me in DOS, and Windows XP. the latest
version is Ghost 9.0. I suspect it uses drive image "engine" as it can copy
the image from withing XP interface and via USB port. Quite handy if you
are using external hard-drive to store images or USB CD writers!
