Drive Image 2002 and S.M.A.R.T.

Recently when creating a Image File and also restoring same in W2K
using Drive Image 2002 I was getting "ERROR 1516 - Partition
Improperly Dismounted "

PowerQuest Support site says of this :-

" Cause 2: This error can be caused on Windows 2000 and XP systems by
the "S.M.A.R.T." error detection feature. This feature is included in
utilities such as CPUCool.

Fix 2: To fix this problem:

1. Disable the S.M.A.R.T error detection feature in the CPUCool
program or similar utility.

2. Boot to the Windows 2000 or XP installation CD, and at the startup
menu, choose "R" for repair.

3. From the Recovery Console, type: chkdsk /p

4. Once the CHKDSK process is complete, reboot the computer and try
running the PowerQuest program again.

The error should no longer be reported until you start using the
S.M.A.R.T error detection feature again."

I do not have CPUCool installed but both of the Hard drives have
S.M.A.R.T.

Has any other users of W2K experienced this and , if they have , is it
possible to disable S.M.A.R.T. ?
