First off, make sure you can view hidden files through Control Panel -> Folder
Options -> View page.
Next, open your external hard drive and look for a file named autorun.inf.
Rename this file to autorun.old.
Turn off your external hard drive and turn it back on.
You should now see the default hard drive icon displayed next to your WD
drive.

Note: The icon displayed next to your WD drive resides in the autorun folder.
If you want to display a different icon, place it here and change the entry
in the autorun.inf file to point to this file.

Good luck
