After installing XP Pro. my 3.5 floppy will not read disk
message disk needs formatting' when I try to format
message disk cannot be formatted.

same problem as Rickey T. have tried three machines with
seven different floppies. sometimes can write to disk,
but never can read. two machines XP Home, one XP Pro.
need help. thx, cw

Do all these machine have something else common?
for example, the model of floppy drive or controller?
Or all are upgraded from WinME... ?

One Gateway, 1 yr old, Win XP Home, never been connected
to internet or email, has no windows updates. One Gateway
4 yr old, clean install of Win XP Home, all windows
updates done. One Compag, 3 yr old, still running Win 98,
all windows updates done. Only common theme i can find so
far is that once a floppy has been written to by a machine
that has Windows updates, the floppy can no longer be read
by any machine, even itself.
