Hi,
Since downloading updates for my IBM Thinkpad T40 with XP Pro SP2, I keep
getting errors generated by Windows explorer, the last one was a Dr.Watson
fatal error. Anybody have suggestions?

Updates from whom? Lenovo or Microsoft? Look in Event Viewer for clues:

Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]

This may help you identify the culprit. Otherwise, uninstall the updates
and then only install them one-at-a-time to find out which one causes
the issue.
