DQ965GF problems

Hi to all and thanks for your attention. I've a little problema with
the MB in object. If I install a Core 2 Duo 6700 proc or a Pentium D
935 the system randomly does not start (does not go past the POST).

Does some one has this problem? I've tried with different models of
PSU and RAM with no luck. I've tried with 2 different MB. The only way
I get the MB function properly is to installa a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz.
Is this MB not compatible with the faster CPU?

Thanks, GR

I've already tried with the last update (5803) but it does not resolve
the problem. I've already talked with intel technicians they talked
about power supplys. I've tried with a 700w ATX12V 2.2 compliant unit,
without success. My dubt is that the MB in object is in some way
compatible with that processors. Does anyone have a system built with
this specs (intel dq965gf + P4D935 or core 2 6700)?

Thanks GR

So you are saying that sometimes the motherboard does start and
runs correctly with the Core 2 Duo ? And if the motherboard does
start, it executes all tests, like Prime95, without problems ?

And other times the motherboard will not start and you get a
black screen and no beeps ?

And you have tried more than one motherboard ?

There is little mention of usage of that motherboard on the
Internet. So there are not many references to how well it works.
The motherboard has TPM and AMT, and many users are scared by
the TPM 1.2 and would not buy a motherboard like that. (Maybe
useful for Bitlocker I suppose.)

If you are still interested in debugging the motherboard, I'd
find a Port 80 POST card and plug it into the right PCI slot.
Chances are, the BIOS is not starting at all, but the POST card
would help you determine that. If the POST card stays at 0x00
hex or 0xFF hex, then chances are the BIOS is not being executed.
And that could be due to a problem with the Vcore regulator
latching off. If you get other POST codes than 00 or FF, give
that info to the Intel technicians.

Are both onboard power indicator LEDs lit when the board
will not start ? There is a red and a green LED near the
DIMM slots.

Does the startup sequence behave differently, as a function of
the jumper block ? (Normal - configure - recovery). You could
try Normal or Configure, and see if it will start in either
case.

Does unplugging the computer, between trials, make a
difference to whether it starts ?

are you SURE the flash went correctly? There was an engineers note on that board that
talked about flashing the bios but having it fail without notice (still get the flash
completed successfully, but in actuality it did not)
