Hi:
The W32/Swen.A@mm worm is not a problem, but the phony
Microsoft messages sent to my computer with attachments
come by the dozens! I have blocked close to 150 in the
past two days...and still they come! My 'block sender'
can't handle many more! Does anyone have a solution?
Desperate for a fix!

Thank you...Toytinker

Hi again:

It has been suggested that I apply rules to 'block
sender'.It doesn't work. Any other suggestions? Hopefully?

Victor

I would suggest that you apply rules on your e-mails. I
have Outlook Express, and by applying rules to my
received e-mails, I have now eliminated them from staying
in my inbox. By identifying words commonly shown in the
subject line, you can direct them to your delete file box
and then empty your delete box. I have no idea how to
completely eliminate them.

Deb:
Thanks. That is what I have been doing but I still get
them by the baker's dozen! There must be some way to stop
the influx permanently. Right now I have at least 150 in
my Block Sender box. In the morning there will be another
30/35. There has to be a better answer!
Thanks, though.

Unplug your computer.

Try SpameBayes. ( You'll need to search forit . I don't have the URL
available at this time.) and never use your real address in public places
( Newgroups, websites, etc ) I haven't received any of these e-mails in
my real inbox. Only my Hotmail account and they all to the junk mail
section.

Blocking a sender and writing a rule to delete them is
two entirely different items. If you go to your Outlook,
Tools, Message Rules, and then Create a Rule, you can
make your Outlook look for certain words in the subject,
and they will automatically be deleted. All you will
have to do is empty your deleted items folder. This
action is not the same as blocking the sender. It would
take an eternity to block all senders - they're all
different.

Deb:
I am aware of what you are telling me and I do that, but
I guess it's like playing the lottery:there are so many
variations being used that it is almost an impossible
task!
Thanks again.

Sorry Victor. I meant the Unplug part asa joke. Unfortunatly, there is
no easy way to stop these e-mails. They uses various addresses and
subject lines so it's hard to crete filters for them.

Spambayes is a batesian filter. It learns what kind of e-mail you want
and don't want. If you search for "Bayesian" on Google, you might be able
to find one that works with OE. If not, a program such as Mailwasher can
help. It will allow to to veiw your e-mail subjects before downloading
them and delete the spam from the server. You can also Right-click on a
suspect message in see it in plain text if you're not sure if it's spam
or not.

I knew you were kidding about unplugging. I tried the
mailwasher, but uninstalled it. I also checked
out 'spambayes'. Neither of them do any more than I am
doing right now. Guess I'll just live with continuous
deleting.
Thanks again.
