Bogus Microsoft Security Message

Charles

I continue to get bogus microsoft security update
messages sent to my e-mail several times a day. i checked
microsoft's web site and identified that the notices i
keep getting are false and it appears that the sender(s)
are trying to infect my computer with the blaster worm
virus. Thankfully, I downloaded the security options just
a day before this started happening. Now i wonder if that
is related to all of these bogus e-mails i have been
getting just recently. How can I stop this from
happening? I have tried to block the messages but i am
unable to do so.

It's a different worm - it's called Swen. You can't stop anyone from
e-mailing you just as you can't stop anyone from dialing your phone number.
All you can do is create filters in your e-mail client that will
automatically delete the messages as soon as they arrive based on the
criteria you choose.

I too have been recieving these. I just went thru my
email to find antoher one, ran my virus scan and it found
one!!! It's call w32.swen.A@mm Have you recieved any
responses from any one at microsoft reguarding these?
I'm almost afraid to download any updates! I can't find
an email address for microsoft to bring this to their
attention.

They're NOT coming from Microsoft! Do not run the attachments under any
circumstances!!!

I'm getting these bogus Microsoft security updates as well, but I know better than to install updates attached to e-mail messages. My ISP cleans and provides warnings for all these bogus e-mail message. They all contain a worm called "w32.swen.....". My question is what is Microsoft doing to "nail" these peoples. I imagine that Microsoft employes the best and the brightest. These people are using their name and trademarks. I would think this would infuriate Microsoft. Why doesn't Microsoft pursue these people and shut them down with all their available resources.

Microsoft cannot do anything about it.
