Spurious? patch

R

Ronald Jackson

I received message from seamed to be an official
Microsoft web site saying that I needed to install the
attached patch. This was blocked and removed by my
Symanntec Norton Internet Security package and identified
the file as "W32.swen.A@mm". There appears to be no
patch in the official update list. How can anyone use
the official heading in this way. If the e-mail is
authentic, how can I obtain the patch if it is blocked in
this way?

.

This is a virus. Microsoft never EVER e-mail out
attachments or patches so if you get one again delete it
straight away - luckily your virus checker is up to date
though.

The email is not authentic.
It is a method for spreading the virus.
Ignore it, delete it, Microsoft does not send files/patches via email.

Ever wonder how Microsoft KNEW your email address? heh

This message contains a virus known as either w32.dumaru,
or w32.swen. I would highly suggest to ignore and delete
these particular messages. Also, Microsoft never sends
patches through e-mail.
